Office Assistant at a Longstanding Non-Profit

Our client, a well-established nonprofit organization in Upper Manhattan, is seeking an energetic, resourceful, and highly organized Office Assistant to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, providing day-to-day administrative support while also assisting with marketing and communications initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a mature, dependable self-starter with excellent judgment, strong writing and communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and office support to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Manage multiple administrative tasks, projects, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Draft, edit, proofread, and prepare professional correspondence, announcements, and organizational communications.

  • Create, design, and distribute mass email campaigns and announcements using Mailchimp.

  • Update and maintain website content through WordPress, ensuring information is accurate and current.

  • Assist with social media management, including creating, scheduling, and publishing engaging content.

  • Design promotional materials, graphics, flyers, and digital communications using Canva.

  • Support marketing and communications initiatives, including email campaigns, website updates, event promotions, and digital content.

  • Provide professional, responsive customer service and communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.

  • Maintain organized records, materials, and administrative workflows while ensuring accuracy and timely follow-through.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative or office support experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong grammar, punctuation, editing, and proofreading abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.

  • Mailchimp proficiency required, including experience creating, designing, and sending mass email campaigns.

  • WordPress proficiency required, including experience updating and managing website content.

  • Experience using Canva to create marketing and promotional materials.

  • Experience managing social media accounts and developing engaging content.

  • Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Mature, resourceful, proactive, and dependable, with excellent judgment and a positive attitude.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Experience working in a nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven organization is a plus.

SALARY

  • $20-27 per hour

  • Temp-to-perm opportunity

  • Benefits available following the introductory period upon permanent hire

HOURS & LOCATION

  • Monday–Friday, full-time

  • Upper Manhattan, NYC

  • On-site position
